Given our current financial crisis and the shape of things to come, I would like to give you my new economic theory. It is so easy to understand that a simpleton such as myself came up with it. It is a basic theory. It includes all levels of the American social classes and it comes as a direct result of another economic theory, Trickle Down.

As most people are aware, we are in the midst of the biggest economic disasters in our history. Wall street is trying to get Main street to bail it out and again the little guy will get the shaft, literally. Im assuming that most of you know what a "reach-around" is, so I will spare the details. If you don’t follow this link (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=reacharound). There now you know. So here goes the theory:

The "partner" is the large financial institutions along with the ever deregulating government. The person getting it is the rest of America. The main diference in the Reach-Around economic theory is that it is not pleasurable for both parties involved. The partner gives it to us without any lube i.e., Tax breaks, Healthcare, lower prices on goods. All the while we get a nifty little "Reach-Around" in the form of a $300-1200 tax rebate. Meanwhile, we continue to pay more for goods and services while the executives of these failing institutions get to roll out with a golden parachute.

I say it’s time that we stand up and say no to this Reach-Around policy, unless of course the lube is seriously improved!!!

In May of 2005, our wonderful government passed a bill called the Real ID Act. Originally it was passed through the house as a stand alone bill (H.R. 418).It went stagnant in the next few phases, but, that didn’t deter the powers that be. They attached it as a rider to a military spending bill (H.R.1268)It was then signed into law on May 11th, 2005. It was originally supposed to go into effect in March of 2008, but has since been delayed until December of 2009.

The reasoning behind the need for a National ID card is obvious. Keep America safe from terrorists, stop illegal immigration, and help us maintain security of our borders and travel. The problems with the National ID are just as obvious. "Federal employees would reject licenses or identity cards that don’t comply, which could curb Americans’ access to everything from airplanes to national parks and some courthouses." Now the REAL ID Act is labeled as a supposed "voluntary" system that the states can choose to enroll in, but, if they are not in compliance, well just read the above sentence again. You wouldn’t be able to fly, go to a park, board an Amtrak, take a bus, or even go see your elected officials in person. "After December 31, 2009, "a Federal agency may not accept, for any official purpose, a driver’s license or identification card issued by a state to any person unless the state is meeting the requirements" specified in the Real ID Act. States remain free to also issue non-complying licenses and IDs, so long as these have a unique design and a clear statement that they cannot be accepted for any Federal identification purpose. The federal Transportation Security Administration is responsible for security check-in at airports, so bearers of non-compliant documents would no longer be able to travel on common carrier aircraft without additional screening." There are no proposed outlines or descriptions for "additional screening". You just won’t be allowed to join in the democratic process or take a family vacation without it.

Now I know you may be thinking "So what? I have nothing to hide or fear". Well most Americans don’t. Most Americans are law abiding citizens who go to work, pay their taxes, and take care of their families. Most Americans, however, don’t realize the intrusiveness of the technology imbedded into the ID’s. Look what’s happening to our passports already, "The U.S. State Department soon will begin issuing passports with radio frequency identification, or RFID, chips embedded in them." If you are unfamiliar with RFID technology, you should learn about it. It is everywhere already. Wal-Mart is a huge proponent of the use of this technology. You probably have atleast 5 of them in your house that you were unaware of.

The result of these RFID chips imbedded into every facet of our lives is very Orwellian in it’s ideology. Big Brother at it’s strongest ever so much in tune with the major corporations that already use them in our clothing, razors, and toothpaste! They are the size of a grain of sand. And Wal-Mart or any other company using them have no legal right to disclose that you are getting them in your purchase.

Back to the National ID. Ron Paul, the Presidential candidate from Texas has said that "Supporters claim it is not a national ID because it is voluntary, However, any state that opts out will automatically make nonpersons out of its citizens. They will not be able to fly or to take a train." Paul warned that the legislation gives unfettered authority to the Department of Homeland Security to design state ID cards and driver’s licenses. Among the possibilities: biometric information such as retinal scans, fingerprints, DNA data and, of course, RFID tracking technology. This is a very strong statement. Becoming a "nonperson" in our country takes away your ability to participate in just about every aspect of life. Financially or socially. No bank accounts. No job. No loans. Add all of this up to the illegal and intrusive Federal Reserve System, and we are in a country that is similair to the Fascists and Nazi’s that we so hated only 60 years ago.

Maybe you think this is just some paranoid rant. I don’t blame you. It is quite a bit to grab hold of and understand, and that is not by accident. The government wants it to be hard for the citizens to understand, let alone find the information they need to make informed decisions. The mainstream media isn’t going to tell you about it. They are in on it. Very few publications or news outlets will actually give you the truth. Most of what they tell us is for our own security. We need to have this to keep the terrorists out. We need it to curb the illegal immigration that is so ravishing our country from jobs and social services. We are going to need it in order to remain a citizen of this great country.

We are very close to becoming a One World Government. The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America is another step in the prosses. The SPP, as it is known, is dedicated to the security and economic prosperity of North America. It includes the US, Canada, and Mexico. Of course we know how important security and economic prosperity are to Gearge W. Bush, but who are the other leaders? Then President of Mexico, Vincente Fox is nothing more than a small time copy of Bush. He came from a corporation (coca-cola Mexico), to become President of Mexico. Prime Minister Stephen Harper, of Canada, is again a mere clone of Bush. He won the election in Canada as a conservative. That is unheard of if you consider that countries rich liberal history. The SPP is trying to becoming the latest version of the European Union(EU) which has transformed that continent into a supranational governing system based on their banking system. Lou Dobbs expressed his concerns about the SPP on his show, stating that the SPP is "barreling ahead" without any opposition or knowledge of the American people. Watch for yourself. It is happening and we have no idea how soon or how strong it will become.

All of this is changing our system of Democracy at an alarming pace. National ID cards, one North American Alliance, the Patriot Act are all very large steps in turning America into the next great Fascist country, and by definition, we are already there. Please read this. Follow up on it. Demand more information from you media and government. Say no to the REAL ID Act. Don’t let our government continue to turn this great country into the next Nazi Germany. This is not some paranoid rant. It is truth and truth is really all we have to stop it.

A TV talking head has finally characterized last week’s non-events in Britain for what they were, in the face of a blitz of frenzied hype, hysterics and fearmongering from the government and media, former Scotland Yard detective John O’Connor described the botched attacks as “hopeless,” “incompetent” “almost laughable,” and amounting to nothing more than a bonfire.

“This was a hopeless, incompetent terrorist attack, I mean when you see the ludicrous situation when none of the bombs were able to be detonated and these guys are then trying to set fire to petrol,” O’Connor told CNN.

“All they got was a bonfire, they set fire to fuel - well that in its own way is not going to detonate the gas cylinders and it’s not going to cause an explosion - it was just a fire, I mean that is so incompetent as to be almost laughable.”

O’Connor also insisted that the perpetrators of the attack should be referred to as “jihadists” rather than Al-Qaeda, which is what the frothing media hurriedly declared them to be just hours after the dud “bombs” were discovered in London.

Others have been less sympathetic, labeling the goons who attempted to ram a Jeep into an airport terminal in Glasgow as “Beavis and Butthead” or, as Register writer Lewis Page, a former armed forces bomb-disposal operator, calls them, “Krazy Klown jihadis” who were engaged in “slapstick idiocy”.

“These have to be some of the most pathetic terror attacks ever,” writes Page, “difficult to distinguish from minor accidents. For goodness’ sake, a car is full of petrol anyway; and gas cylinders too often enough. People drive cylinders of gas around all the time. Now and again - oh my god! - they probably carry boxes of nails, bolts, tools or whatever in the same vehicle. (Aiee!)”

“This kind of event happens on the motorways almost every day, at least the petrol fires and often enough with the other hazards added. The roads get closed off as a result, sometimes for hours - just like the Haymarket did on Friday morning. It causes massive inconvenience to lots and lots of people.”

“But the perimeter is manned by firemen and traffic cops, not bomb teams and terror-feds. And so this weekend a minor news story - one injured in bunt-out car / suicide attempt causes travel chaos - becomes a big international media frenzy, a “test of the new Prime Minister’s mettle,” if you please.”

The hysteria continued in the UK today after Stansted Airport was temporarily shut down following the discovery of an unattended bag whose owner had presumably deserted it to visit the toilet.

And a new level of absurdity was reached when authorities decided to carry out controlled explosions on a car that was parked outside a Glasgow Mosque last night - no dangerous materials were found in the vehicle. Because obviously one of the primary targets for Muslim terrorists are Muslim Mosques!

While in America, pipe bombs at a Disney theme park that blew off doors later turned out to be firecrackers in a trash can that fizzed and spluttered.

Now every discarded pack of sandwiches is a potentially “suspicious device” as Britain cowers in fear of the next terrorist atrocity - who knows, maybe they’ll set off a firework or knock over a stack of bean cans in the supermarket.

While the majority of Brits are more interested in putting up shelves than some retards setting fire to a car, the media has deserted common sense for good and welcomed another opportunity to terrify the public, providing terror where there was none and thereby facilitating the amateur jihadist’s agenda by hyping a peril that simply doesn’t exist.

News anchors devour every breaking detail about the dastardly doctor bombers while an endless loop of Beavis and Butthead’s car crash dominates the background, blown up and overpixelated in a desperate ploy to beef up its significance. They also revel in yet another excuse to show burly cops with machine guns, the enforcers ordering people around, searching cars and demanding complete compliance.

The reality is that accident causing deer, peanut allergies and swimming pools are all more likely to seal your fate than a terrorist attack.

As Ohio State University’s John Mueller concludes in a report entitled A False Sense Of Insecurity, “For all the attention it evokes, terrorism actually causes rather little damage and the likelihood that any individual will become a victim in most places is microscopic.”

But the sensationalist media, the power hungry government and the bottom line fretting “experts” who head up profitable anti-terror companies all need to feed the beast and they’ll exploit every morsel on offer.

Terrorism can only be effective if the relatively minor acts of violence that are perpetrated are given false prominence and artificially inflated to the point where the dread of what’s coming next fundamentally alters the way we go about our lives, travel, commerce, and the way we treat others, until we ultimately acquiesce to the terrorist’s goal - relinquishing our freedoms and living in fear.

Since that is the very definition of terrorism, recent events only confirm that the terrorists have already won and that their victory was secured with the enthusiastic support of the government and the media.

So, I’m watching the wonder that was the “Republican” debates the other night, thinking to myself “I wonder how many times the words Terror, God and Ronald Reagan are going to be spoken?” Surprisingly, Reagans name was only brought up a few times, unlike the first debate, when it was a virtual gang-bang of neo-con proportrions. Of course, whenever you have Rudolph Guliani and John McCain on the same stage, your going to hear the word terror quite a bit. Your going to hear them chant ” If we don’t beat them their, They will follow us home”. The Romney’s, Brownbacks, Huckabee’s and the likes are pretty much using God and Jesus as there running mates.

What’s interesting and somewhat omnipresent about the debates on Tuesday, was the intense lightning happening in New Hampshire just outside of the venue. The constant flickering of microphones and static charges that kept interupting the “smootheness” of the pundits. It was as if the Almighty himself saw the blasphemy and politicising of his name and teachings. When Guliani was asked about his ever-so-evil stance for Pro-Choice, the mic’s went down during his answer. The rest of the “Candidates” started laughing, as if that was a sign as to how horrible Guliani was, to suggest that a womens right to choose was against God’s will. I’m not saying thay Guliani is the right man to lead this country. He’s far from it. But let me suggest that the other candidates (minus the true Republican Ron Paul), will most definately use this in later debates as a “sign”.

It is not only the Republicans playing the God card anymore. Recently, In a faith forum on CNN, Hillary Clinton, Barrack Obama, and John Edwards jumped on the “Faith-Wagon”. Clinton expressed her beliefs that she was “tested in ways that are both publicly known and those that are not so well-known or not known at all,” Clinton said her faith, along with support of “my extended faith family–people whom I knew who were literally praying for me in prayer chains, who were prayer warriors for me, and people whom I didn’t know, [who] I would meet or get a letter from–sustained me through a very difficult time.” I’m not sure I would have gotten through it without my faith,” Clinton said. “I take my faith very seriously.”

Obama, however, trying to nullify the possibilities and beliefs by the fearful and less intelligent right that he has “Muslim” ties, said “There is a biblical injunction that I see to make sure that, to make sure that those young men and women have an opportunity to right their lives,” refering to how his faith had informed his policy views on helping prison inmates reintegrate into society. The best part of it all was his referance to the over inflated pay of today’s CEO’s. “I also would like to see executives recognize that when they’re getting as much in one day as their average worker is getting in an entire year that there is a moral element to that.”

I wonder if he feels the “Moral Element” about the fact this Presidential race is going to cost upwards of $500 million dollars? Does he feel the “Morality” of how much that would help the seriously poor and impoverished? He is probably the most genuine of the big 3 on the left, but, he probably doesn’t have much leg to stand on when it comes to Morality.

As for old $500 haircut Edwards, well, It really isn’t surprising to hear him talk about faith. He already seems like a televangelist. He has, in all fairness, probably suffered more personal pain than the other two. Having lost a child and the cancer of his wife, Elizabeth.”When Elizabeth and I lost our son, we were nonfunctional for some period of time and it was the Lord that got me through that,” he said. And hey, atleast he realizes we are all human. “We are all sinners. We all fall short, which is why we have to ask for forgiveness from the Lord.”

Is that true for the meak, the poor, and the downtrodden? How can they ask for forgiveness if they have no part in the politics of our country? What about the middle class? The ones that pay 85% of the taxes to take care of the previously mentioned group? Im not sure I would classify either of these groups as sinners. The true “Sinners” seem to be the ones that always jump on the “Faith-Wagon”. The ones who mention God as there guiding factor in how there decisions are handed down. The ones who are quick to cut funding for childrens programs. Quick to start wars under false pretenses. The ones who are quick to turn a buck.

Our current President has always been on the “Faith-Wagon”. He’s pretty much the conductor. Since the 2000 presidential election, it has become virtually impossible to be a real candidate for any office, without mentioning your faith and god. It appears that this trend is only going to continue and become even more relevant as we continue to be pushed towards a Pat Robertson dream. Don’t get me wrong, I have no problems or quams with anyones faith. I just find it amusing and ironic how many candidates, left and right, have suddenly started to realize their faith. As we move closer to our next “election”, we are going to be innoculated continuosly with these rich, elitists sense of morality.

As an afterthought, I was looking up the Old Testaments 7 deadly sins. I must say, most of our leaders are guilty of atleast 5 of the 7 everyday. Check it out youself…

RON PAUL ON THE POLICE STATE & MARTIAL LAW

“If we don’t change our ways we will go the way of Rome and I see that as rather sad…..the worst things happen when you get the so-called Republican conservatives in charge from Nixon on down, big government flourishes under Republicans.”

“I think they’re concerned about the remnant, the remnant of those individuals who don’t buy into stuff and think that they should take care of themselves on their own, that they should have their own guns and their own provisions and they don’t want to depend on the government at all and I think that is a threat to those who want to hold power. They don’t want any resistance to their authoritarian rule.”

“They’re putting their back up against the wall and saying, if need be we’re going to have martial law.”

“We’ve heard all these statements by the President, by the administration, why they need more militarism at the federal government to keep people in check so nobody knows how this will turn out but I do know that the only thing we can do about it is try to alert the American people to what’s going on so they can be prepared.”

“It’s getting close to it, it’s called usurpation of power and it’s done in many ways with Congress just going along because they’re sound asleep and this certainly is an attack on our Constitution and on our freedoms.”

“We might have to hope that our Supreme Court helps us out a little. The Court has been better than the executive branch and a heck of a lot better than the Congress, because we’ve given the President everything he’s asked for and the President has been begging for all this authority, so immediately we have to hope that the courts will save us on some of these things. But once again ultimately its only when the people wake up and say they don’t like this… sometimes the people wake up to late. Right now we don’t have concentration camps, but like you have pointed out, the authority has been given so that concentration camps can come without Habeas Corpus. I have heard the argument that there is nothing else left in the Bill of Rights. If they can lock you up, what good is freedom of speech or what good is a gun? That is now part of the books, part of the law.”

“You know there’s nothing that guarantees that they will allow you to air your radio show forever. They have already trampled on our rights, they talking about putting people in prison today without Habeas Corpus… If we don’t preserve our fundamental freedoms we can’t fight back. I’m convinced of one thing, we could all be very very poor tomorrow and have to start from scratch but if we have our freedoms and we have our sound currency and we have the government off our backs, this country would rebound so quickly.”

“I think they are always prepared and everyday they have more powers than before because under these emergency powers acts, the President now has more authority than ever. And the contest that is really going on in this Presidential election is are there enough of us that care about our freedoms versus those who are willing to succumb to the temptations of dictatorship. Just think of the attitude, what it was like right after 9/11 when they passed the Patriot Act, I said ‘you know it’s not even available, you can’t even read it and we’re getting ready to vote’ they said ‘it doesn’t matter, the people want us to do something, this looks like we’re doing something, it sounds good, there’s no way I’m even gonna question this’, so they voted for it. They got their signals from the people. it is true that there are a lot of people who wanted something done, the big question is are there more of them or more of us?”

“Congress has generously ignored the Constitution while the President flaunts it, the courts have ignored it and they get in the business of legislating so there’s no respect for the rule of law.”

“To me it’s so strange that the President can make these proposals and it’s even plausible. When he talks about martial law dealing with some epidemic that might come later on and having forced quarantines, doing away with Posse Comitatus in order to deal with natural disasters, and hardly anybody says anything. People must be scared to death.”

“I believe it is the President hyping this and Rumsfeld, but it has to be in combination with the people being fearful enough that they will accept the man on the white horse. My first reaction going from my political and medical background is that it’s way overly hyped and to think that they have gone this far with it, without a single case in the whole country and they’re willing to change the law and turn it into a military state? That is unbelievable! They’re determined to have martial law.”

RON PAUL ON THE NEO-CONS

“I think the arrogance of power that they have where they themselves are like Communists….in the sense that they decide what is right. The Communist Party said that they decided what was right or wrong, it wasn’t a higher source.”

RON PAUL ON THE UN, GLOBAL GOVERNMENT & THE NORTH AMERICAN UNION

“Who do we have at the UN, Bolton, the arch Neo-Con warmonger and actually what they’ve done is taken the Neo-Con position on intervening on the internal affairs of other nations and regime change and they’ve institutionalized that in the United Nations, now the UN is in the business of regime change.”

“I think the goal is one world government - we have not only the U.N. - we have the WTO, the IMF, the World Bank, then we have all the subsidiaries like NAFTA and hemispheric governments, highways coming in.”

“We have behind the scenes a plan for a North American Union, that’s the part that the American people are starting to wake up to, although we have a long way to go to wake up Washington. It’s amazing to me how many people outside of Washington are very much aware of the plans with this North American Union, at the same time they are in total denial in Washington, except for the few behind the scenes who are laying the plans and providing the finances.”

RON PAUL ON THE DEMOCRAT COWARDS

“Not a whole lot will change because the leadership on the Democratic side, even if they had their way, don’t have a different foreign policy. They have been supportive of an interventionist foreign policy in the middle east, and they are not about to back away from that… They are willing to criticize the policy but only as a means to get power.”

RON PAUL ON THE PLUNGING DOLLAR & THE ECONOMY

“They all believe in the federal reserve, they are not going to get rid of the IRS and the income tax. I think the dollar is going to keep sliding, which means prices are going to rise, when currencies self destruct, the end goes quickly. There are no signs that there is anything being done in Washington to correct the problem. Spending is going to continue and probably going to get worse, the deficits are going to stay high if foreign policy is not going to change.”

“That’s also part of the foreign policy to be in position to hold onto natural resources, that’s one of the major reasons why we’re in the middle east, so yes if there is a financial crisis, they’re going to have the guns, and they have control of the natural resources… It’s not a good scenario, because what usually happens when you wipe out a currency is that you wipe out the middle class, and we already see this happening. The standard of living is going down.”

“They get a temporarily good deal but what it does is encourage us not to be productive, it encourages us not to have manufacturing any longer, we can let others do it cheaper, cheap labour, and then we buy it with cheap money. That is going to come to an end. That means later on there are going to be a lot of changes here. Domestically the interest rates are going to rise, the inflation rate, the price of all goods and services, that will rise, and the economy will weaken, so we have some very serious problems ahead.”

“Economically the consequences will be that there’s going to be a wholesale rejection of the dollar, because the world has trusted the dollar, especially since the breakdown of the Bretton Woods in 1971, when the linkage of the dollar to gold was broken, they still trusted the dollar as if it were gold, and therefore we can print the money and we can spend the money and foreign countries take our money, then loan it back to us, so they’re getting a bum rap.”

RON PAUL ON FOREIGN POLICY

“As a Commander in chief you could certainly handle the troops around the world. I would start talking to all our allies and tell them what the plans were and start coming home. We are now spending close to a trillion dollars maintaining our foreign policy. It’s a lot bigger than most people realize if you add up the Dod, the supplementals, the interest on the money we spend and taking care of our veterans.”

“We have turned our own country into isolationists, diplomatically we don’t talk to anybody, we have more enemies than we’ve ever had before and fewer allies, and at the same time our ability to defend this country is being diminished on a daily basis. We worry about borders, all around he world, we worry about borders in Korea, about borders around Iraq, and what do we do with our own borders? Here we don’t do anything.”

President George W. Bush has sparked much alarm by openly declaring himself to be a dictator in the event of a national emergency under new provisions that will effectively nullify the U.S. constitution, but such an infrastructure has been in place for over 70 years and this merely represents a re-authorization of the infrastructure of martial law.

New legislation signed on May 9, 2007, declares that in the event of a “catastrophic event”, the President can take total control over the government and the country, bypassing all other levels of government at the state, federal, local, territorial and tribal levels, and thus ensuring total unprecedented dictatorial power.

The National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive, which also places the Secretary of Homeland Security in charge of domestic “security”, was signed earlier this month without the approval or oversight of Congress and seemingly supercedes the National Emergency Act which allows the president to declare a national emergency but also requires that Congress have the authority to “modify, rescind, or render dormant” such emergency authority if it believes the president has acted inappropriately.

Journalist Jerome Corsi, who has studied the directive also states that it makes no reference to Congress and “its language appears to negate any requirement that the president submit to Congress a determination that a national emergency exists.”

In other words the new directive excludes Congress altogether from governance in a state of emergency.

While alluding to the “enduring constitutional government”, the directive actually ensures the end of constitutional government as each branch, the executive, legislative and judicial, are stripped of equal authority and must answer directly and solely to the President.

The mainstream media has not reported on the directive and the White House has refused to comment.

Though anathema to any notion of liberty or freedom, this new legislation has not come out of the blue, it is merely an open declaration of the infrastructure of martial law that the federal government has been building since the turn of the last century, which was first publicly codified in the 1933 war powers act under Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Senate Report 93-549, which was presented at the first session of the 93rd Congress, outlines just a handful of the declared national emergencies or martial law declarations that preceded the latest one.

“Since March 9, 1933, the United States has been in a state of declared national emergency. In fact, there are now in effect four presidentially-proclaimed states of national emergency: In addition to the national emergency declared by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933, there are also the national emergency proclaimed by President Harry S. Truman on December 16, 1950, during the Korean conflict, and the states of national emergency declared by President Richard M. Nixon on March 23, 1970, and August 15, 1971.”

In alliance with these open declarations of martial law and the 1947 National Security Act, bills such as the Patriot Act, the John Warner Defense Authorization Act and the Military Commissions Act have all put the final jigsaw pieces in place to complete an infrastructure of dictatorship since 9/11.

We’re already living under an infrastructure of martial law and have been since 1933, all that remains for it to be fully implemented is a big enough natural disaster, mass terror attack or other catastrophe that will cause the necessary carnage and panic that affords the federal government enough leeway to implement open dictatorship with the least possible resistance.

New revelations that Bush has openly declared himself to be a dictator are both shocking and demand immediate attention, but they only represent a re-authorization of the tyranny that Americans have been living under for at least the past 74 years.

So old Bush is trying to persuade the public that “his” war is going well. His usual chuckling self has been on a virtual tour to help improve his dismal performance ratings. For the past five days he’s been speaking to folks about the Iraq situation. “Let me put it to you this way: If I didn’t think we’d succeed, I’d pull our troops out,” Bush said. Though he has expressed understanding about the concerns surrounding the war, he still stands firm in his belief that the war is good for American security.

“I cannot look mothers and dads in the eye, I can’t ask this good Marine to go into harm’s way if I didn’t believe, one, we’re going to succeed, and, two, it’s necessary for the security of the United States,” Bush said.

“There was some awful violence. Some reprisals taking place. And I can understand people saying, `Man, it’s all going to — you know, it’s not working out,’” he said.

Although the looming prospect of a civil war, the sectarian violence that continues to spread, and still the lack of a united Iraqi government have been focal points in the media, President Bush insists that America and Iraq are on the right path. “The way I like to put it is, they looked into the abyss as to whether or not they want a civil war or not and chose not to. That’s not to say we don’t have more work to do, and we do.”

Why is it that every other country, whether its a bullshit reason or not, will actually take to the streets and protest something? Why do they make such a fuss that their governments actually have to listen? Why do we as Americans only “demonstrate peacfully”? Do you think THEY are listening?

Now don’t get me wrong, Im not calling for violence or anarchy or anything of that nature. Im simply asking why we have “marches” and “Peace Parades” to try and get our point across? It seems that if “We the People” were actually serious about making changes, we would motivate ourselves and organize to bring about a change. Unless its a new Wal-Mart supercenter in our city, or the possible extinction of a bug that we would step on if it were in our house, we don’t really protest. Yea, we SAY we do. But do we REALLY?

The recent French labor protests along with the Mohammed cartoons and the earlier French protests (damn the French know how to protest! ce la vie?) are just small examples of the worlds sense of change. Again, I don’t personally agree with some, if not all, of the reasons. I just see that they bring about a sense of interest and possibility of change that we don’t seem to get here in America. We “bitch” and “complain” about the things we don’t like or disagree with. We say we will show the powers that be with our voter-power. But we still sit in the same old spin cycle, never really getting to a resolution or compromise.

How can we bring about a change, without causing any violence or mob mentallity? How do we let our “leaders” know that we really are serious this time? We do like the great, true, leaders have done throughout history. We stand tall. We walk tall. We let them know that we are watching, hearing, and feeling there choices. There are way to many injustices and wrongdoings for ALL people to list and write about at this moment. We all know that it happens. We all know that “THEY” don’t give a rats-ass that WE bust our butts so there can be more and more billionares every year. So let’s show them we are here. Let’s send them a wake up call.

I don’t care if you are a Republican and hate Democrats. Or vice-versa. Let us know how you feel, what you think, and what WE THE PEOPLE should do…

Palast Charged with Journalism in the First Degree

Greg Palast | September 12 2006

It’s true. It’s weird. It’s nuts. The Department of Homeland Security, after a five-year hunt for Osama, has finally brought charges against … Greg Palast. I kid you not. Send your cakes with files to the Air America wing at Guantanamo.

Though not just yet. Fatherland Security has informed me that television producer Matt Pascarella and I have been charged with unauthorized filming of a “critical national security structure” in Louisiana.

On August 22, for LinkTV and Democracy Now! we videotaped the thousands of Katrina evacuees still held behind a barbed wire in a trailer park encampment a hundred miles from New Orleans. It’s been a year since the hurricane and 73,000 POW’s (Prisoners of W) are still in this aluminum ghetto in the middle of nowhere. One resident, Pamela Lewis said, “It is a prison set-up” — except there are no home furloughs for these inmates because they no longer have homes.

To give a sense of the full flavor and smell of the place, we wanted to show that this human parking lot, with kids and elderly, is nearly adjacent to the Exxon Oil refinery, the nation’s second largest, a chemical-belching behemoth.

So we filmed it. Without Big Brother’s authorization. Uh, oh. Apparently, the broadcast of these stinking smokestacks tipped off Osama that, if his assassins pose as poor Black folk, they can get a cramped Airstream right next to a “critical infrastructure” asset.

So now Matt and I have a “criminal complaint” lodged against us with the feds.

The positive side for me as a journalist is that I get to see our terror-busters in action. I should note that it took the Maxwell Smarts at Homeland Security a full two weeks to hunt us down.

Frankly, we were a bit scared that, given the charges, we wouldn’t be allowed on a plane into New York last night. But what scared us more is that we were allowed on the plane.

Once I was traced, I had a bit of an other-worldly conversation with my would-be captors. Detective Frank Pananepinto of Homeland Security told us, “This is a ‘Critical Infrastructure’ … and they get nervous about unauthorized filming of their property.

Well, me too, Detective. In fact, I’m very nervous that this potential chemical blast-site can be mapped in extreme detail at this Google Map location

What also makes me nervous is that the Bush Terror Terriers have kindly indicated on the Internet that this unprotected critical infrastructure can be targeted — I mean located — at 30º 29′ 11″ N Latitude and 91º 11′ 39″ W Longitude.

After I assured Detective Pananepinto, “I can swear to you that I’m not part of Al Qaeda,” he confirmed that, “Louisiana is still part of the United States,” subject to the first amendment and he was therefore required to divulge my accuser.

Not surprisingly, it was Exxon Corporation, one of a handful of companies not in love with my investigations. [See " A Well-Designed Disaster: the Untold Story of the Exxon Valdez. "]

So I rang America’s top petroleum pusher-men and asked their media relations honcho in Houston, Marc Boudreaux, a simple question. “Do you want us to go to jail or not? Is it Exxon’s position that reporters should go to jail?” Because, all my dumb-ass jokes aside, that is what’s at stake. And Exxon knew we were journalists because we showed our press credential to the Exxon guards at the refinery entrance.

The Exxon man was coy: “Well, we’ll see what we can find out…. Obviously it’s important to national security that we have supplies from that refinery in the event of an emergency.”

Really? According to the documents our team uncovered from the offices of Exxon’s lawyer, Mr. James Baker, the oil industry is more than happy to see a limit on worldwide crude production. Indeed, the current squeeze has jacked the price of oil from $24 a barrel to $64 and refined products have jumped yet higher — resulting in a record-busting profit for Exxon of nearly $1 billion per week.

So this silly “criminal complaint” has nothing to do with stopping Al Qaeda or keeping the oil flowing. It has everything to do with obstructing news reports in a way that no one would have dared attempt before the September 11 attack.

Dectective Pananepinto, in justifying our impending bust, said, “If you remember, a lot of people were killed on 9/11.”

Yes, Detective, I remember that very well: my office was in the World Trade Center. Lucky for me, I was out of town that day. It was not a lucky day for 3,000 others.

Yes, I remember “a lot” of people were killed. So I have this suggestion, Detective — and you can pass it on to Mr. Bush: Go and find the people who killed them.

It’s been five years and the Bush regime has not done that. Instead, the War on Terror is reduced to taking off our shoes in airports, hoping we can bomb Muslims into loving America and chasing journalists around the bayou. Meanwhile, King Abdullah, the Gambino of oil, whose princelings funded the murderers, gets a free ride in the President’s golf cart at the Crawford ranch.

I guess I shouldn’t complain. After all, Matt and I look pretty good in orange.

*******

A personal request to readers. Many have written to ask what can be done to protect Matt and me from becoming unwilling guests of the State.

First, this ain’t no foolin’ around: Matt and I are facing these nutty charges. So spread the info. We believe that getting the word out is the best defense.

Second, call Homeland Security and turn us in. They seem to have trouble finding us. If you get a reward, you may choose to donate it to the Palast Investigative Fund, a 501(c)(3) educational foundation which supports our work and pays our legal fees.

Third, ask your local library to order our book, Armed Madhouse: Who’s Afraid of Osama Wolf? Homeland Security now reserves the right to read over your shoulder at the library; therefore, the more our agents are forced to read this subversive material, the more likely we can convince them to come in out of the cold. All kidding aside, we do ask you to request your library order the book: not everyone can afford to purchase this hardbound edition.

Thats a swell article. Lots of feel good stuff. Thers also several DIFFERENCES between all the wars and the like. I personally don’t like ANY politician. I have MUCH, MUCH respect for Mr. Glenn. But to end all of that feel good stuff with ripping on whats his name, for not serving? Did you forget that almost 90% of the current White House staff NEVER served in any form whatsoever? And come election year, whether it was against Mcain or Kerry, (both veterans mind you) they tried to rip them a new one? And yet, they are the ones responsible for the meager (I use that term oh so remorsefully, considering the previous comparisons to other lives lost) comparison of 2500 hard working honorable soldiers lives? Atleast Truman, FDR, and Eisenhower all had a basic understanding of the military and how it works. Unlike the current “leaders” who run it like a corporation and think that you got to spend money (lives) to make money!

Must be, since they can’t hear what the people are saying. They spend tax dollar money like it’s an open cash register, they don’t hear the people screaming to control Illega immigration, etc. We need to understand thier alien language; or better yet, blow the f*&king aliens out of here!!!

Are they Legal or Illegal aliens? I think its more that Fascist-Capitalists are running this country and they don’t really care where your from as long as they get their money!
